Hinoportuna – Tuna Académica of the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo (IPVC) is mourning the death of one of its veteran members, João Tiago Matos, known as “Ervilha”, at the age of 36.
On a note of regret, Hinoportuna reports on the “tragic departure of yet another veteran member of our much-loved and beloved tuna, this time a son of the land, a Viennese with soul and heart, João Tiago Matos – ‘Ervilha’ as he was known in the tuning world”.
João Tiago Matos is remembered as “a heart of gold and soul of a lion, a fighter, a perfectionist, someone who from an early age brought a breath of fresh air and talent and quality to Hinoportuna, was a Magister of our association and always an element that stood out for adding value and humor to everything he did, dedicated, he managed to become President of the Hinoportuna Veterans Council, a position he still held, being in charge of the statistical records of our association, carrying out memorable work that It will forever be engraved in gold in our hearts.”
“He was the first member of Hinoportuna to achieve the highest academic degree, our Hon. Mr Doctor, with his PhD completed at the University of Aveiro”, adds the note of condolence, in which the cause of death is not revealed.
“We have thus lost a unique figure, a promising young man, a brother, a companion, a son and an exemplary father, we are all poorer… we were not and would never be prepared for this… we sincerely hope that you enlighten us with your smile and your Energy from above, guides us and comforts us in the most difficult moments, because one day we will all be together again, when we meet in the heavenly tuna. We will watch over yours and you will always be present in every chord, every song and every toast, wherever we are. To you, see you soon, Ervilha… FRA”, concludes the note, addressing “the most sincere condolences to his partner, son, parents, sister and the rest of the family”.
The funeral will take place tomorrow, Friday, at 10:30, at the Parish Church of Areosa, in Viana do Castelo.
