In fact, another indication that the current Peugeot 2008 will be retired soon is that all available units are from the 2023/2024 model year, that is, the current stock consists of units produced last year. It’s something identical to what happens with its cousin Citroën C4 Cactus, which had its retirement confirmed by dealerships recently.
1.6 SUV priced as a 1.0 hatch
Speaking of what matters, the discounts for the Peugeot 2008 are interesting as they range from R$15,000 to a good R$20,000. In fact, the biggest discount on the table is for the entry-level 2008 Allure 1.6 version, which goes from R$ 109,990 to R$ 89,990, a price lower than even a Chevrolet Onix LT 1.0 (R$ 95,590) – one of the most basic in the compact hatchback.
In other words, for those who don’t insist on having a “car of the year”, it might be a good idea to take a compact SUV home instead of a basic hatchback. Among the main standard equipment of the 2008 Allure, we have four airbags, reversing camera, multimedia center with 7-inch screen compatible with Android Auto and Apple Carplay, manual air conditioning, fog lights, fog lights, cruise control with limiter of speed, 16-inch alloy wheels, cooled glove box and electrically adjustable mirrors.
Both the Allure and Roadtrip versions come equipped with a 1.6-liter aspirated flex engine with up to 120 hp and 15.4 kgfm of torque, which always works with a six-speed automatic transmission. The 2008 Style and 2008 Griffe configurations feature the famous 1.6 THP turbo engine under the hood that delivers up to 173 hp and 24.5 kgfm of torque, which also operates with a six-speed automatic transmission.
The Roadtrip, Style THP and Griffe THP versions have a discount of R$15,000. Below, check out the promotional prices for all versions of the Peugeot 2008:
- 2008 Allure 1.6: from R$109,990 to R$89,990 (R$20,000)
- 2008 Roadtrip 1.6: from 114,990 for R$ 99,990 (R$ 15,000)
- 2008 Style 1.6 THP: from R$129,990 to R$114,990 (R$15,000)
- 2008 Griffe 1.6 THP: from R$134,990 to R$119,990 (R$15,000)
New generation is tested in Brazil
Already produced in Argentina at the El Palomar factory, the second generation of the Peugeot 2008 is already being tested in Brazil. Thus, the new 2008 will have the same look as the European model (which arrived here only in the e-2008 electric version) and will arrive in Brazilian lands with the new logo, but with the most recent restyling applied in Europe.
It’s worth mentioning that the SUV is also a little bigger than the current 2008. It measures 4.30 meters long, 1.82 m wide, 1.55 m high and 2.60 m wheelbase. In other words, it will be 14 cm longer, 8 cm wider and will have 6 cm more distance between the axles.
The expectation is that the powertrain will be the 1.0 three-cylinder turbo of Fiat origin, which produces up to 130 hp of power and 20.4 kgfm of torque, and which works together with the CVT transmission with seven simulated gears. There is also the possibility that the SUV will be sold in three versions: Active, Allure and GT, but we can’t help but imagine that the brand could offer some option with the 1.3 four-cylinder turbo with 185 hp and 27.5 kgfm.
