Renault inserts the Symbioz into the legacy of “family cars” almost 60 years after the launch of the Renault 16, a car that is both modern, functional and with a lot of interior space, and 40 years after the revolution started by the Espace, a modular car for seven people, just 4.25 meters long.

The Symbioz is a versatile vehicle, which integrates the best of Renault’s C segment technologies, offering a compact body with plenty of internal space, to meet everyone’s needs.

Interior follows Renault’s “cars to live in” legacy

Imagined as a “car to live in”, in 1965 the Renault 16 was made to stand out from the competition, introducing a new body style whose rear door allowed access to the trunk. More versatile than its competitors, the Renault 16 included a modular rear seat that could be configured in the “holiday travel” position. The versatility offered was unprecedented at the time, responding to the needs of families looking for a car that adapted to their lifestyle, fully aligned with a society undergoing complete transformation.

Since then, Renault has not stopped innovating, with its family cars in line with the times. The Espace was a true revolution in the 80s, thanks to its minivan format and completely unprecedented modularity at the time. Back in the 90s, the Scenic was the first compact minivan. Created as a “cocoon”, the internal space was designed for the well-being of all passengers.

Now, the Symbioz carries this same DNA and the winning “car to live in” formula. Versatile for daily use, it is also capable of modulating the trunk and cabin according to the needs of each family, in addition to offering useful technologies with added human value – all in a compact size, adapted for use in the city. Showcasing the Renault brand’s new design language, the Symbioz highlights this continuity following the launch of the electric Scenic E-Tech and the New Captur.
