The Pan-American Mountain Bike Championship has begun. This year’s edition takes place in Utah, in the United States, until next Sunday (12). Last Wednesday (8), the first day of competition, Brazil already reached the podium with Iara Caetano winning her second women’s XCE (Cross Country Eliminator) championship. Aline Simões was also in the race, but ended up without a medal.

To win the gold medal in XCE, Iara Caetano crossed the finish line ahead of Colombian Melissa Vargas, who took the bronze medal. Completing the podium, Ecuadorian Michela Molina came in third place and took bronze. In addition to Iara, Aline Simões also competed in the race. She finished in fifth place and ended up close to the podium.

Iara Caetano will still compete in the XCC race in Utah. In the event’s schedule, the elite women’s race takes to the track this Friday (10). The XCO races, elite men and women, are scheduled for Sunday (12), the last day of competition.

In addition to the two Brazilians this Wednesday, Brazil also has other representatives in the Pan-American Mountain Bike Championship. For the XCO (Olympic Cross Country), the Brazilian Cycling Confederation (CBC) called up José Gabriel, Ulan Gallinski and Gustavo Xavier for the men’s elite and Raiza Goulão, Karen Olímpio and Hercília Najara for the women’s elite.
