Weather forecast: Rain stops in Rio Grande do Sul, but temperature starts to drop

This Thursday (9) should be a calmer day with firm weather in Rio Grande do Sul. In most of the state, there is no chance of rain. The cold front that arrived in the country, formed by the extratropical cyclone that was in Argentina at the beginning of the week, reduced temperatures throughout the region.

Heavy clouds are only present in the area that goes from the North of Rio Grande do Sul to the Southwest of Paraná, passing through Santa Catarina. This means that the metropolitan region of Porto Alegre, encompassing Canoas, Santa Maria and Pelotas, will have dry weather – even with thermometers reaching a maximum of 21°C.

The cold sensation is caused by high pressure of polar origin, which should, however, only last until this Thursday. On Friday (10), however, low pressure is expected to form in the state, followed by the approach of a cold front during the weekend.

The humidity corridor coming from the Amazon should also affect the state, and the atmospheric blockage that prevents rain from advancing towards the Southeast. However, if all these conditions together result in more cold fronts and more storms in the north of the state, they will cause the atmospheric blockage to lose some strength by the end of next week.

In addition to Rio Grande do Sul, heavy rains are also hitting another region of the country. Part of the Northeast has also been on alert for heavy rain since Tuesday (7), in the area between Sergipe and Pernambuco. Furthermore, some parts of the North region will have isolated rain showers.

In the area that goes from Mato Grosso to the North of Paraná, the weather will be firm and, in most cities, with temperatures close to or above 30°C, in a condition that will last at least until the beginning of next week .
