The Civil Police, through the Barra do Garças Police Station (509 km east of Cuiabá), launched on Wednesday (05/08) the second phase of Operation Zayra, to comply with nine more court orders against a criminal organization involved in the double murder of father and daughter and an attempted murder in the municipality.
The court orders, including three arrest warrants, three for home search and seizure and three for breach of telephone confidentiality, are being carried out in the city of Goiânia (GO) with the support of the State Police Office for Narcotics Repression (Denarc).
The crime that killed João Vitor Menez Soares, 22 years old, and his daughter, just 2 years old, occurred on February 9, 2024, at the family’s residence, in the Nova Barra neighborhood. At the time, two men in a vehicle parked near the residence, entered the house, shot at the victims and then fled.
The victim’s wife was also shot and traveled in her own car to the UPA to help her daughter, but the child did not resist and arrived dead at the health unit.
The first phase of the operation was launched on April 2nd, complying with 18 court orders including arrest warrants and search and seizure orders against the group involved. As the investigations progressed, they were represented by new court orders, which were granted by the Court.
During the execution, it was identified that one of the suspects is at large in the city of Rio Janeiro (RJ).
Zayra
The name of the operation has the meaning of naivety and purity, and refers to the 2-year-old child, shot to death, simply for being in the arms of his father who was involved in organized crime.
