The Public Ministry suspects that the exploitation of gambling was the reason for the murder of Felipe Roberto Casale, which occurred on March 15, on Rua Doutor Edgard Conceição, in the Paulista neighborhood. The information comes from prosecutor Aluisio Maciel Neto. This Thursday (09), the Public Ministry launched the Jogo da Vida operation, which resulted in the arrest of three people.
The operation was supported by Baep (Police Special Actions Battalion), which committed 12 vehicles, 46 police officers and two dogs. The execution of the three temporary arrest warrants and six search and seizure warrants mobilized 10 prosecutors, two delegates, four investigators, a clerk and 48 police officers.
The seizures included two weapons, 172 ammunition, six firearm accessories, R$310,000 in cash, around R$492,000 in checks, five slot machines, 36 computer motherboards, 215 cell phones without provenance, two bags with dozens of slot machine keys, spreadsheets and various notes from the criminal organization.
The work was carried out by the 2nd Public Prosecutor’s Office of Piracicaba, by Gaeco (Special Action Group to Combat Organized Crime), by the 3rd Homicide Investigation Police Station of Deic (Criminal Investigations Division) and Baep.
“It (the operation) resulted in the temporary arrest of three suspects who are being investigated in the police investigation into their involvement in the homicide that occurred on March 15th. There are suspicions that this crime occurred within a context of dispute over gambling points, held in Piracicaba and one of these points would be led by a criminal organization that is being investigated”, said the prosecutor.
The Police and the MP are still investigating how the three suspects participated in the murder. “We cannot predict at this moment the participation of each of them because we need to evaluate this calmly, safely, with peace of mind so that we can establish the responsibility of each of them”, he said. The three suspects were arrested this Thursday morning (09). They already have a history of other crimes such as gambling, corruption of public officials and money laundering. “It is an organization that has been operating in Piracicaba for a few years”, says the promoter.
