The Federal Police (PF) arrested a passenger who was boarding at the airport in Foz do Iguaçu with a gold bar weighing approximately one kilo. The approach was this Wednesday, the 8th.

During inspection, civil aviation protection agents (APAC) noticed a high-density object in the inspected hand luggage. In the image, it was not possible to define the material.
A thorough inspection of the luggage was then carried out. The passenger is 42 years old and is of Chinese nationality. He had a plane ticket to Congonhas (SP).
In the search, the gold bar was found wrapped in dark plastic tape and paper. The valuable material did not have legal documentation, according to the Federal Police.
The man said he “bought the gold bar in Brazil, for the price of 69 thousand dollars”, reported the federal institution. He was arrested on charges of usurpation of Union assets and taken to the PF police station.
The metal mark is the same as the one seized in Argentina, in April, from a German citizen and another Argentinean, after crossing the Paraná River. They crossed in a pickup truck via the ferry between Bella Vista, in Paraguay, and the Argentine town of Corpus, in Misiones.
At the time, the H2FOZ reported (read here) that the pair were carrying 3.5kg of gold. The incident led Argentine authorities to open an investigation into the existence of a metal smuggling scheme on the border with Paraguay.
Marijuana charge
In another approach in Foz do Iguaçu, federal officers captured a vehicle loaded with 650 kilos of marijuana. The action took place in the early hours of this Friday, the 10th, at a logistical point for trafficking on the border.
A motor vessel was constantly crossing the Paraná River, from Paraguay to a clandestine port on the Brazilian bank. A vehicle, a Ford Ka sedan, was found at the scene, loaded with several bales of the herb.
When approached by the Federal Police, the driver of the car fled at high speed through the central streets of Foz do Iguaçu, for eight kilometers, until he abandoned the car and could not be found. The drug load was seized.
