Activity on the Polkadot blockchain has reached record levels, with active addresses reaching all-time highs for two consecutive months.
Data from DotLake indicates that the network had around 650,000 active addresses on the network at the end of April. The growth continues an upward trend that saw the number of active blockchain addresses surpass its previous high of 605,000 in March.
The increase in active addresses can be mainly attributed to Moonbeam. During the reporting period, parachain accounted for more than 60% of these addresses, totaling 397,515, while Polkadot had just 136,612 addresses.
Moonbeam is an Ethereum-compatible smart contract parachain on Polkadot that is attracting considerable attention from the community. According to data from Polkadot Insider, the network had the largest user acquisition among Polkadot parachains in April.
Meanwhile, the number of unique Polkadot addresses with non-zero balances decreased slightly, falling from 6.96 million in March to 6.8 million at the end of April.
Furthermore, the total number of transactions on the network also registered a modest decline to 11.07 million in April, slightly below the 11.5 million in March.
Polkadot’s rising metrics have not yet translated into better price performance for the network’s native DOT token.
