Innovate to live active and healthy aging

The Regional Forum of the Center for Professional Orders (FoRCOP) presented yesterday, at the Regional Section of the Center for the Medical Association (SRCOM), the colloquium “Aging in the 21st century – Innovate to live”, which will take place next Tuesday , in the D. Afonso Henriques room (former church) of the Convento São Francisco, in Coimbra.
«It is very important to carry out debate and reflection initiatives involving members of professional orders and decision-makers, together with civil society and the exercise of citizenship, for better social inclusion of older people», highlighted the representative of SRCOM in the presidency of FoRCOP , in the presentation of the event.
Hernâni Caniço also highlighted the five main objectives of the colloquium, which include “promoting the achievement of older people, stimulating literacy, addressing new mechanisms, generating social inclusion and human rights and debating a new active aging action plan healthy and align strategies for creating networks».
The debate, aimed at professionals and users of various organizations and civil society in general, comes, in the opinion of Manuel Veríssimo, «at a crucial moment, since Portugal is facing serious demographic problems», and it is therefore «urgent to implement measures for the aging of the population». And, in this sense, the Order of Doctors assumes its role by «stimulating the learning of best practices for the health and well-being of older people», highlighted the president of SRCOM.
