O New adults don’t forget the programs they watched on television when they were children and teenagers. ‘Morangos com Açúcar’ proved that there is still room for youth productions and if on TVI, in addition to new seasons, episodes that made this product a success have been recalled, then on SIC, the path seems to be exactly the same.
At Opto, from today onwards, ‘Rebele Way’ will be available. Launched on the Paço de Arcos channel in 2008, the series portrayed the adventures of four young people whose only connecting link was music, with the ‘background’ being the Prestige International School.
O Fame by the Minute decided to mark the return of ‘Rebelde Way’ by interviewing Tiago Barroso, one of the four protagonists. More than fifteen years later, much has changed in the actor’s life and he no longer sees acting as his only source of income. Interestingly, it is in 2024 that Tiago continues his career, as he told us in this conversation that he can read now.
How do you feel about this return of a production that we believe continues to be very special to you?
This was and continues to be a very special project, my first as a protagonist. I was very happy recording ‘Rebelde Way’, the possibility of combining acting with music was fantastic.
How important was this project in your career as an actor?
It was very important and an excellent opportunity to show myself in a completely different light. He had just played Henrique Fritzenwalden (for two years) in ‘Floribella’, a naive and insecure character. Weeks later, I had the chance to bring Pedro Silva Lobo to life, who was the complete opposite of Henrique. It was amazing.
It’s incredible that the public wants to remember the stories, the songs and nostalgically relive all the episodesDo they still recognize you on the street for the character you played in this series?
Yes, the public continues to remember Pedro Silva Lobo and I continue to be approached by ‘Rebelde Way’. I really like feeling this affection and there are even people asking for RBL songs [banda criada na série] during my band’s concerts.
Like what has happened on other channels and with other series, this return will satisfy some nostalgia that the Portuguese have been expressing in relation to some television products from the past. Do you agree?
I feel this affection for ‘Floribella’ and ‘Rebelde Way’, they were SIC formats that marked generations. It’s incredible that the public wants to remember the stories, the songs and relive all the episodes with nostalgia.
We know that 2024 is the year in which he decided to return to the artistic world. Can you tell us what this return actually consists of? What projects might we see you in?
And truth. At the beginning of the year I decided to return to my agency, HIT Management. I was very well received and things have been happening organically and positively, I am very excited. I managed, almost immediately, a large multimedia advertising campaign and participation in fiction projects. The important message is that I’m back, willing to embrace new challenges.
I return with another experience and a great desire to enjoy all the workWhat did you do professionally during the years you were away from acting?
I have always remained connected to the world of music, with my band Deixa Rolá, with which I always had the chance to feed my artistic side. I was also in the Marketing area, which I graduated in, as a Brand Manager.
When you participated in projects such as ‘Rebelde Way’ and ‘Floribella’, did you create any expectations regarding the profession that ended up not being fulfilled?
I always kept my feet firmly on the ground. That is, I never made long-term plans. I took advantage of every opportunity and gave my all to perform this art in the best way possible. There was a time in my life when I needed stability. I became a father at a very young age and therefore needed stability in several areas. I return with another experience and a great desire to enjoy all the work.
