With a soundtrack by Hans Zimmer, “The Tattoo Artist of Auschwitz” is based on the global bestseller of the same name, and will be available exclusively on SkyShowtime in June!

The trailer for the upcoming SkyShowtime original series is now available. “The Tattooist of Auschwitz” (original title “The Tattooist of Auschwitz”) will be a six-part drama series based on the international bestseller by Heather Morris.

The book tells the true story of Lali and Gita Sokolov, who met in the Auschwitz concentration camp, during the Holocaust of World War II. Jonah Hauer-King (The Little Mermaid, World on Fire) and Anna Próchniak (Baptiste, Warsaw 44) will play the main roles in the series as young Lali and Gita, respectively.

Lali was a prisoner in Auschwitz-Birkenau during World War II, and was assigned as one of the tätowierer (tattoo artists), responsible for tattooing identification numbers on the arms of other prisoners. One day, he meets Gita when he tattoos her prisoner number, and the two fall in love, giving rise to their courageous story.

60 years later, Lali meets the book’s author and decides to tell her her story. In modern times Lale will be played by Academy Award® nominee Harvey Keitel (The Irishman, Youth), and Heather Morris by Melanie Lynskey (The Last of Us, Yellowjackets).

“THE TATTOO FROM AUSCHWITZ” IS COMING TO SKYSHOWTIME

In the trailer, we can see an older Lali telling Heather about his experience, also giving an introduction to the powerful story of love and resilience between the two young people.

The six episodes of “The Tattoo Artist of Auschwitz” will be directed by Tali Shalom-Ezer, executive produced by Claire Mundell, and the series is a co-production by Sky and Peacock.

The soundtrack will be composed by Hans Zimmer and Kara Talve, multiple Academy Award-winning composers.

Barbra Streisand, an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony-winning singer, songwriter, actress, writer and director, also recorded a new song that will be the final title of the series. “Love Will Survive” was composed by Grammy-winning Hans Zimmer, Kara Talve, and Walter Afanasieff, with lyrics by Grammy- and Golden Globe-nominated Charlie Midnight.

All episodes will be available exclusively on SkyShowtime from June 7.
