More than just a music competition, Eurovision is a symbol of unity and diversity. In the first semi-final of the competition, which took place in Sweden, we were honored with 15 semi-finalists and allowed us to celebrate music produced in various corners of the world. However, Eurovision is also a time to revive memories and remember artists who participated in the festival in the past, many of them when it was not yet the size it is today.

Part of this trip to the treasure trove of memories was made with the introduction of each act, in the iconic postcards where the artists discover themselves. With them also came part of their countries’ past. Seconds of songs that, in some way, touched our hearts, those of our parents and even our grandparents.

Who doesn’t remember the days of watching Eurovision with the family? The competition is, in fact, about recognizing the fundamental role that music plays in our lives, realizing that there is a legacy that has persisted.

Before we travel to some of these acts, share with us all the presentation postcards of the artists from the first semi-final in order of presentation: Cyprus, Serbia, Lithuania, Ireland, Ukraine, Poland, Croatia, Iceland, Slovenia, Finland, Moldova, Azerbaijan , Australia and Luxembourg. They were joined by the artists already qualified for the final: United Kingdom, Germany and Sweden.

Eurovision memories: which songs left an impression on us?

As you can see in the video above, Eurovision is full of magical moments. These songs are just a few of the many that have touched us over the years. Without borders, without political comments, we want to celebrate music as it is: a journey through sounds and melodies that have become an irrefutable part of our collective memory. Now travel from Cyprus to Luxembourg to the greatest hits of this unique show, where music transcends differences.

But there is still more! The first semi-final started with Eleni Foureira, Eric Saade and Chanel with their Eurovision songs. Let’s travel back to those years.

From Cyprus – Eleni Foureira – Fuego (2018)

From Sweden – Eric Saade – Popular (2011)

From Spain – Chanel – SloMo (2022)

And who doesn’t remember Johnny Logan, the veteran and three-time Eurovision winner for Ireland (twice as performer, once as lyric writer)? In a truly special moment, Logan took to the stage at Malmö Arena to sing “Euphoria”, by Loreen, in a union of the two countries that have won the festival the most times – 7 each of them. Let’s relive this moment.

There was also time for a heartfelt tribute to Nicole & Hugo, Belgium’s representatives at Eurovision in 1973 and who made history by singing and dancing at Eurovision for the first time, something never seen before. Interestingly, it was the artists themselves who created their wardrobe. Eurovision is also the stage for limitless dreams.

New music for the future

Finally, it’s worth not forgetting that Eurovision is also about the future of artists, an opportunity to launch themselves into the market. The lives of Chanel, Eleni Foureira, Eric Saade and Johnny Logan changed after attending the festival.

The same happened with Benjamin Ingrosso, Sweden’s representative at Eurovision 2018 in Lisbon, who returned to the Eurovision stage to present his work to a global audience, consolidating his position as one of the biggest names in young Swedish pop music. With songs in English and Swedish, Ingrosso has gained more and more space in the music scene.

Compared by some to Justin Bieber or Justin Timberlake, the Swedish artist demonstrates exceptional talent and enormous potential to become a global star. He performed in Malmö in a very powerful medley that served as an interval act. New songs for those who want to continue listening to Eurovision artists.
