“O Ukrainian air shield must be strengthened to effectively protect our people from Russian terror. More air defenses and anti-aircraft missiles are what saves lives,” wrote Zelensky in a message on the social network Facebook, accompanied by a video showing the consequences of the attack on Odessa.
“So far, two deaths and eight injuries have been confirmed, including a child,” he said, noting that rescue operations are still ongoing and that 18 apartment blocks were destroyed as a result of the night attack on Odessa.
The Ukrainian armed forces recorded a total of 17 attacks with Iranian-made ‘kamikaze’ drones, 14 of which were shot down by anti-aircraft defenses in Odessa, Mikolayev, Zaporiyia, Kharkov, Sumi and Dnipropetrovsk.
“Unfortunately, as a result of the impacts and fragments that fell in the regions of Odessa and Kharkov, there are deaths and injuries,” the Ukrainian Air Force said in a statement.
As he added, Russia also launched three X-59 and X-35 missiles from the areas it controls in Kherson and Donetsk.
