Russian state news agency RIA reported Wednesday, citing unnamed sources within Russian forces, that the attack hit soldiers’ quarters in Kharkiv, where the Ukrainian military was stationed. The mayor of the city, Ihor Terekhov, told Ukrainian television that two S-300 missiles were used in the attack, but that they did not cause significant damage to the city’s residential areas.

Smolensk energy facilities on fire
Several energy installations caught fire this Wednesday in the Russian region of Smolensk, around 400 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, following attacks with dronesrevealed the regional governor, Vasily Anokhin.

“Our region was once again the target of attacks by drones Ukrainians,” the governor wrote on Telegram. “Most likely, as a result of the enemy attack on civil energy infrastructure sites, where fires broke out”, highlighted the governor, without giving further details about the affected locations. The attack caused no casualties, he added.

In recent months, the Ukrainian army has intensified its drone attacks on Russian territory, particularly targeting energy installations.
The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations sent rescue teams to the scene.

Another attack drones this Wednesday targeted the special economic zone in the city of Lipetsk, also about 400 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, but further south, which is home to a number of metallurgical and pharmaceutical companies, said the region’s governor, Igor Artamonov, on Telegram.

“The criminal regime in Kiev tried to attack the infrastructure of the Lipetsk industrial zone,” Artamonov added. The governor, who did not reveal whether the attack caused casualties, assured that residential areas were not threatened.

Kiev has already claimed responsibility for attacks on energy facilities in the Russian region of Smolensk, which stored 26,000 cubic meters of fuel.
