The police heard this Wednesday (24) the manager of a finance company that served Érika Souza, the niece took her uncle, already dead, to attendants at a bank where she tried to release a loan. She was at the finance company before going to the bank, in the early afternoon of her arrest. The manager said that Érika stated that she thought Paulo was unable to sign documents at the moment.

Both establishments are in Bangu, in the West Zone of Rio. The Crefisa employee states that the elderly Paulo Roberto Braga was already “completely still and with the head turned back” in this first establishment, before being taken to the bank.

The manager said that Érika was trying to release a loan in her uncle Pauo’s name, which she referred to at one point as “my money”.

With the denial that there was a loan released in his name there, Érika would have asked if it was possible to open an account there. When asked whether Paulo Roberto Braga would be able to sign, his niece replied: “I don’t think so.”

Érika was then instructed to present a document proving that the elderly person was unable to sign, which was not done. She ended up explaining that she had taken out the loan at another banking institution and provided an Itau account for deposit, where she then went.

What is known about the case of the deceased elderly man taken to the bank in a wheelchair

The police concluded the first phase of the investigation into Tio Paulo’s case, in which Érika is responsible for attempted theft through fraud and vilification of a corpse. For the police, there are sufficient elements, through technical evidence and statements, of the crimes committed by Erika at the time of her arrest in the act.

In the second phase, the agents investigate whether she committed negligence – as the elderly man may have died on the way to the agencies – and other crimes. An app driver who took Érika and the elderly man to a shopping mall near the agencies states that he believes Paulo was still alive when he picked him up.

The police report will be forwarded next Monday to the Public Ministry.
