UA rare Lego piece that was lost at sea more than 25 years ago ended up on a beach in Cornwall, England. It was 13-year-old Liutauras who found the plastic octopus in Marazion on the coast of Mount’s Bay after a two-year long search.

The Lego brick was one of many lost at sea after the freighter Tokio Express, which had sailed from Japan in 1997, lost 62 containers during a storm, before docking in Southampton, England.

One of them was loaded with Lego pieces – many of them figures alluding, interestingly, to the ocean.

The sea has become a “giant puzzle” and the toys keep washing up on the shore. There are those who collect them to collect or make art. For some, “it’s a full-time job.”

The teenager, who regularly goes to the beach with his parents, said he was “happy” with the discovery and revealed that he had already collected almost 800 Lego pieces that had been lost at sea since the cargo ship accident, reports BBC News.

However, his father, Vytautas, highlighted that an octopus was “not easy to find”. “We didn’t expect to find it because it’s very rare,” he added.

Liutauras also said that the next objective is to find one of the 33,941 dragons that fell into the sea after the incident.

Tracey Williams, part of the ‘Lego Lost At Sea’ project, which has spent years trying to find the pieces of plastic since they fell into the ocean, said the octopus is often seen as the ‘Holy Grail’ of discoveries.

According to her, she only found an octopus in 1997. “I think there is something very magical about octopuses,” she said.
