DThis Sunday, dozens of people paid tribute to the Italian dictator Benito Mussolini, on the day that marks the 79th anniversary of his execution at the end of the Second World War, in 1945.
According to the news agency The Associated Press (AP), those present at the ceremony raised their arms in a fascist salute and shouted a fascist chant, while, dressed in black, they paraded through the cities of northern Italy.
The Italian dictator, remember, was shot on April 28, 1945 by a platoon of the Italian resistance, in Dongo, on the banks of Lake Como, after being captured while trying to take refuge in Switzerland in the company of lover, Clara Petacci.
Almost 80 years later, a group of neo-fascists marched through Dongo and placed 15 roses in the lake in memory of the ministers and officials of Mussolini’s government who were killed there.
It should be noted that the anniversary of Mussolini’s execution occurred on the same day that the Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, attended a conference of the Brothers of Italy, the far-right party she leads, in Pescara. Meloni’s party has its roots in the Italian Social Movement, founded in 1946 by a chief of staff in Mussolini’s last government.
