TDo you take a shower every day? Can you never leave the house or go to sleep without taking a shower? You may have heard that you could be damaging the natural layer of your skin. Still, there may be more risks, such as a decrease in the immune system’s defenses.
Robert H. Shmerlin, editor of Harvard Health Publishing, cited here by Fox News, revealed that healthy oils and good bacteria can be removed from your skin with daily baths. And it goes even further.

“Our immune system needs a certain stimulation by microorganisms and other environmental exposures to create protective antibodies and ‘immune memory'”, he explains. He says that this is why many pediatricians and dermatologists do not recommend daily baths for children.
“Frequent baths or showers throughout life can reduce the immune system’s ability to do its job.”
There are also some risks associated with chemicals that may be present in water, such as salts, metals, chlorine and pesticides, as well as in soaps, shampoos and fabric softeners.
But after all, how many times should we shower a week? “While there is no ideal frequency, experts suggest that bathing several times a week is sufficient for most people.”
He also says that short showers, lasting three to four minutes, and focused on the armpits and groin area may be sufficient.
