The majority of readers, 71%, say they agree with the removal of the book “O Avesso da Pele” from schools in Mato Grosso do Sul. Another 29% disagree with the measure. The results were obtained through the survey of the Campo Grande News Wednesday (13).

On social media, readers were predominantly against it in the comments. They highlight that the excerpts exposed by the representatives of Alems (Legislative Assembly of Mato Grosso do Sul) were taken out of context.

Paulo Edyr comments that he read the book and disagrees with the removal of the work. “I didn’t see anything discrediting. He simply portrays reality with the words used in our daily lives. Is reality bad, is reality cruel? We can’t blame the mirror for its crooked face”, concluded the reader.

Fernando Cruz “Sensitive and pertinent book to unmask the racist everyday life we live in”

Lelo Reinoso “This book was awarded at the biggest Brazilian literature award, the Jabuti prize. Therefore, it is excellent for young people. The majority of those who banned it in schools have never read a book themselves.”
