Renault 4 electric has been seen again in tests

-

Renault, in 2024, has a list of electrical innovations that will certainly make a difference in the automotive sector. We have already seen the Renault 5 E-Tech, the Scenic E-Tech is arriving and others are already on the horizon to fill this market. An example is the iconic name Renault 4. Yes, now completely new and with “batteries” on the wheels!

After 5… comes 4

The new Renault 4 E-Tech Electric has been spotted undergoing new tests, providing a closer look at the smallest of the Losango brand's electric SUVs. This will be the French brand's smallest SUV and was photographed “under the radar”.

Renault is more than willing to conquer the smaller electric car market. The Gallic brand has already presented the new Renault 5 and confirmed the arrival of a variant crossover which will debut at the Paris Motor Show, early next autumn. This role will be occupied by the innovative Renault 4, which, like its predecessor, is a modern reinterpretation of the model from the 60s to 90s.

A model that was manufactured in Valladolid, and whose new iteration has already been seen in testing, flying over frozen lakes converted into runways in northern Sweden.

A place restricted to curious people and photographers, the images show a very interesting prototype of the new electric “four ele”, where you can “see” some good details.

With the wheels placed close to the wheel arches, Renault's new electric car offers a wider view, highlighting the black plastic protectors typical of SUVs on these panels. The new generation 4L has 17-inch alloy wheels. The proportions make it clear that this small electric SUV will be larger than the recently launched Renault 5, and is also positioned one step higher in the range.

All-wheel drive in the new electric Renault 4 without the Alpine badge

The French manufacturer will offer four trim levels in this electric Renault 4, sharing the same electric engine debuted on board the R5, but with the big difference that it will not have the entry-level 70 kW or 95 HP version. However, the French brand is considering the possibility of installing a electric motor on the rear axle, transforming the R4 into a small electric SUV with all-wheel drive and an extra power that will exceed 150 HP, as an Alpine version is not planned for this model for now.

The 41 and 52 kWh batteries will be the same, with a range of up to 400 kilometers. This machine will appear on the market in mid-2025.
