A China will be preparing for progressively stop using microprocessors of American origin, from Intel and from OMGon personal computers and servers of State bodies.

The news is being reported by the Financial Times, which cites the publication of a set of guidelines for purchases from State bodiespreparing the progressive abandonment of equipment with technologies from both manufacturers in official bodies.

According to the same source, the guidelines also point to a growing disinvestment in other foreign solutionsin favor of national options, namely in the Microsoft operating system, the Windowsor in database software developed by foreign companies.

The guidelines for inclusion of “security and reliability” criteria for processors and operating systems in purchasing planning are being directed to all agencies and public bodies above the municipal level.

This new news of China’s alleged blockade of North American technology confirms what another measure known in December seemed to already indicate. At the time, the Chinese industry minister released three lists of CPUs, operating systems and databases “safe and reliable” centralized systems, Reuters said.

Each of the lists should start to guide public sector solution choices in the respective areas, up to three years after publication of the guidelines. All the solutions referenced there were from Chinese brands.

You United States took first steps in blocking Chinese-made technology in public equipment and services, due to alleged security issues. Also has invested many millions in the development of its own semiconductor industrywith initiatives such as the Chips Act or the Science Act. China now appears to be preparing to show that it can respond in kind.

Remember that in May last year, the China also announced that it would place Micron Technology on its supplier blacklist, due to alleged risks to national security. The measure banned products produced by the American Micron Technology in critical infrastructures in the country.

The decision resulted from a analysis in which it was concluded that the United States chipmaker’s offer poses risks to national securityan argument that the United States has also used to place the same type of blockade on Chinese companies.

A Micron Technology is the largest American memory chip manufacturerclassified after that analysis by the Chinese regulator as a source of “serious risks to network security”.
