ANDAt the World Car Awards as World Car of the Year, the Kia EV9 won the award, beating the BYD Seal and the Volvo EX30.
With a 99.8 kWh capacity battery, responsible for offering a total range of up to 541 kilometers, the EV9 will also have a less powerful 76.1 kWh battery in the base version. As for charging capacity, the EV9 can recharge in just 15 minutes and have enough energy to travel approximately 239 km.
In terms of engines, Kia offers an electric unit with 150 kW (203 hp) and 350 Nm of torque, which allows acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.4 seconds. In addition to this engine, the EV9 will also be available with a 160 kW (218 hp) electric motor and 350 Nm of torque. With this block, the large SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.2 seconds.
There is also a third option, which equips the all-wheel drive version. There are two electric motors that, combined, have a total power of 283 kW (385 hp) and a torque of 600 Nm of torque. In addition to these numbers, those who wish can purchase the “Boost” function at the Kia Connect Store. This provides an additional 100 Nm of torque, which allows the EV9 to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.3 seconds.
Innovative comfort
In addition to all these numbers, it is necessary to talk about other strong points of the Kia EV9. This South Korean SUV offers seven seats and a row that rotates 180º, based on the ‘Opposites United’ philosophy. This new feature allows for greater comfort and interaction between occupants, at the same time as the EV9’s cabin creates a kind of lounge. That’s why Kia didn’t forget about cup holders and USB ports in its rear seats.
Still inside, it is also important to note that the brand equipped the EV9 with a 12.3-inch screen for the multimedia system and another with the same size for the instrument panel.
