QWhen tires are produced, manufacturers are obliged to obey certain rules. The tire must have numbers and letters indicating its production date, size or maximum speed. In addition, the tires can also have a colored dot, which serves to facilitate their assembly.

It can be yellow, red, in the shape of a circle or even a triangle. Either way, this small colored dot on the tire indicates the tire’s balance point or, in other words, the tire’s joining point.

As a rule, this point is identified so that when mounting it is easy to identify the lightest point on the tire which, for the sake of balance, must coincide with the valve mounting.

Wheel manufacturers can also set a balance point for the wheel. In these cases, one and the other must coincide in assembly. So that there is no need to balance the wheel, or to facilitate the work of balancing it, which may sometimes still be necessary.

It is important to note that this only applies to the first tire fitting or a new wheel.
