CUF awarded an extraordinary bonus of 11 million euros, which reflects an investment in increasing salaries through an increase in wages by 7.8%. In 2023, continuous investment in expansion, innovation and research amounted to more than 120 million euros.

The consolidated net profit of the CUF group grew from 33.7 million to 39.8 million euros, an increase of 9.5%, in 2023. “The evolution in assistance activity contributed to a consolidated Net Profit of 37.8 million euros ”, highlights the group led by Rui Diniz.

In a statement, the health group says that CUF’s operating income increased by 18.8% in 2023, compared to the previous year, to 755.9 million euros.

Operating expenses grew by 18.2% to 635.7 million euros.

Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) increased from 57.5 to 72.8 million euros, up 26.6%, and the EBIT margin increased from 9% to 9.6%, up 0.6 percentage points (pp).

The group states that “with the expansion of the network and the scope of services, CUF reinforced its proximity to the population, providing healthcare to more than 1 million and 200 thousand people, which means that, in 2023, 11% of Portuguese they entrusted him with their health.”

In a statement, CUF details that “the increase in the supply of healthcare, which allowed an even closer and more flexible response through the national network of hospitals and clinics, digital channels or home services, translated into 2.9 million consultations, 10 million exams, 43 thousand teleconsultations, 64.5 thousand surgeries, 451 thousand emergency episodes and 4.3 thousand births”.

Regarding the Infrastructure segment, it had a weight of 26.7% in the net result of 2023, said the group that operates in the health sector.

“The ratio of net financial debt to EBITDA (Operating income plus amortization and depreciation and provisions and impairment losses) reduced from 4.67x, at the end of 2022, to 4.19x, due to the improvement in earnings before interest , taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA), and the Financial Autonomy ratio remained at approximately 21%, in line with 2022 values”, said CUF.

The group added that CUF’s care indicators “evolved positively” compared to previous periods, highlighting consultations, hospitalization days and surgeries “with growth of more than 12% and emergency services with an increase of 10.5 %, compared to the same period last year”.

“Emergency services increased by 10.5% and Births registered a growth of 7.2%, respectively, when compared to figures from the previous year”, he adds.

CUF highlighted that it will award an extraordinary bonus of 11 million euros to employees, increasing the wage bill by 7.8%.

The group led by Rui Diniz since January 2021 also highlights that “in the 2023 financial year, CUF expanded its care network”.

“Continuous investment in expansion, innovation and research therefore remained a priority, amounting to more than 120 million euros, close to double that recorded in 2022”, reads the statement.

“To respond to the needs of those who need healthcare, CUF expanded its geographic scope to the autonomous regions, with the acquisition of the CUF Açores Hospital. The CUF network also arrived in a new district by inaugurating the CUF Leiria Clinic, the first step towards the opening of a future hospital, in 2025, which will be prepared to respond to the most complex cases”, highlighted the group.

Also noteworthy is the future CUF Covilhã Hospital, which will be completed in 2027, as part of its expansion to other areas of the country, in addition to the acquisition process of the Grupo Clínica Médica Arrifana de Sousa, in the north, which includes a hospital and six clinics located in the Tâmega e Sousa region.

The reinforcement of teams and services is also highlighted, including Home Hospitalization, which is now available in the Greater Porto and Tagus Valley regions and in São Miguel, in the Azores, and the opening of Oncology Day Hospitals in CUF hospitals. Torres Vedras and CUF Santarém, in addition to investment in the implementation of new treatments and differentiating clinical approaches.

This expansion of the network and scope of services led to the group providing healthcare to more than 1.2 million people.

“The increase in the supply of healthcare resulted in 2.9 million consultations, 10 million exams, 43 thousand teleconsultations, 64.5 thousand surgeries, 451 thousand emergency episodes and 4.3 thousand births”, he highlighted. the group.

“With regard to the environmental dimension, the search for more environmentally efficient and sustainable measures stands out, with a view to reducing the ecological footprint, with regard to the consumption of natural resources and the production of waste. The reduction of one million sheets of paper and the 46% reduction in carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions from anesthetic gases are two of the achievements of CUF’s environmental performance in 2023”, said CUF.

The CUF group highlights that in 2023, CUF will record an increase in productivity, associated with significant growth in its network, the number of customers served, as well as the scope of services provided.
