NIn the year in which it celebrates its 40th anniversary in China, Volkswagen also signals a strong change in its strategy for the local market. It was during the 2024 Beijing Motor Show that the manufacturer presented a new sub-brand to try to halt the advance of BYD, which gained leadership in the Chinese market in 2023.

ID.UX will be dedicated to electric cars and has already revealed the first model. The new Volkswagen ID. Code was revealed at this ceremony in recent days. It is true that it was designed for the Chinese market, but this image marks the beginning of a new direction for Volkswagen’s future SUVs.

The German brand’s latest project will debut on the Chinese market in 2025 and will be aimed at a younger audience in the Asian country.

The ID. Code is a vehicle that incorporates the most advanced driver assistance systems in the world, making it capable of achieving Level 4 autonomous driving. This is facilitated by a retractable steering wheel that is hidden when autonomous mode is activated.

There are still no major details about the mechanics of the Volkswagen ID. Code, but it is known that it will be electric and that its battery can be recharged by the energy captured by the photovoltaic cells installed in its panoramic sunroof.
