Olivia Munn took to social media to announce that she is battling breast cancer and had to undergo a double mastectomy. The 43-year-old American actress also took the opportunity to leave an appeal to followers to participate in the screening.
“I was lucky. We caught him in time to have options. I want the same for all the women who may have to face this one day”states in the post made on Instagram.
Olivia Munn confessed that she took a genetic test in February 2023, which checks 90 different cancer genes and, at the time, it was all negative. Even so, the doctor accompanying her decided to calculate the score in the risk assessment and that was what gave her “saved life”.
The artist had a biopsy that revealed the aggressive presence in both breasts. A month later, she went ahead with a double mastectomy and has had four surgeries in the past 10 months. She kept everything a secret because “I needed to catch my breath and go through some of the most difficult moments before sharing them”.
Olivia Munn thanked her family, friends, and especially her partner, comedian John Mulaney. “For being there before I went into every surgery and when I woke up, never forgetting to put framed photos of our son Malcolm so that he was the first thing I saw when I opened my eyes.”,
