Actress Cara Delevingne’s mansion in Los Angeles was destroyed by fire last Friday, March 15. The British supermodel was not at home, but shared photos showing the house engulfed in flames. “My heart is broken,” she wrote on Instagram in the caption of an image of her two cats, who she thought died in the incident.

It is unknown what caused the fire at the two-story house in Studio City, north of Hollywood. Two people were injured, including a firefighter who was taken to the hospital in stable condition and a resident who suffered smoke inhalation, the Los Angeles Fire Department said in a statement.

The emergency call was made at 4am on Friday, with the warning that a fire had broken out at the back of the house. The flames quickly escalated into the attic, causing the roof of the 1970s building to collapse. It took 94 firefighters and more than two hours to bring the flames under control in the more than 600 square meter property.

All neighbors in the vicinity were evacuated for safety while relief operations were underway, CBS reported. The actress, currently on stage at West Wend in London with Cabaretthanked on Instagram, “from the bottom of my heart, to all the firefighters and people who showed up to help”.

The Los Angeles Fire Department concludes the statement with information that the causes of the incident will be investigated.

According to the North American press, Cara Delevingne bought the Hollywood mansion in 2019. Two years later, it opened its doors to Architectural Digest and described the house as one of her “favorite places to be” comparing it to “a dollhouse for adults”. The decoration includes a temple in honor of David Bowie and a collection of Japanese puzzles.
