Roger Fernandes was the most recent guest on ‘PodNext’, a Sporting de Braga podcast broadcast late this Sunday afternoon. Among the many topics covered, the young man spoke about his first time driving in Portugal and the day of his driving test
“I drove here and parked properly. I wasn’t nervous, but it wasn’t that easy. In the end it got a little difficult. I already had a junk car two years ago that I had to return because Al Musrati complicated the things. The car was very light… They picked up the car from the back and took it to the other side of the parking lot and I arrived from training and the car was not where I had left it. He asked someone for help, and lifted the car and moved it to another area of the park. He did that every day. So I returned the ‘junk scrapper'”, said Roger Fernandes, who told another episode with the Libyan midfielder, now at Besiktas.
“When I was with the training teams, I would go to Fão in that car, but sometimes I would make a mistake and get on the highway. Then trucks would pass by me at high speed, they would honk their horns and it would shake me a lot. I had to stop for about 15 minutes because I would get with some fear of an accident. I couldn’t drive on the highway in that vehicle”, continued the young man from Minho.
“When I finished the driving test, the instructor said ok, I immediately sent a photo of the license to our group saying that they could now share me with Horácio. He is our driver. They were all laughing!”, said Roger , between laughs.
The young man opened the book about his childhood in Guinea Bissau and the love he has for his mother, revealing that, until recently, his family couldn’t watch him play.
“My neighborhood really likes Sporting de Braga and I went there in December and tried to buy a good television for my mother, who couldn’t watch my games. I also provided better conditions and she now has two rooms. She welcomes everyone to our days when Sporting de Braga plays, especially the kids. Everyone is rooting for it”, he concluded.
