Shannen Doherty, an actress known for the TV series “Barred at the Ball” and “Charmed”, said on her podcast that she is donating and selling her belongings while undergoing treatment for advanced-stage breast cancer.

She spoke about the subject in an episode of the podcast “Let’s be clear”, published this Monday (1st). The actress stated that she is taking these steps to “make things easier” for her mother, Rosa Doherty, if she were to pass away.

Shannen revealed in June last year that the breast cancer, for which she had been undergoing treatment, had spread to her bones. At the time, she published a video on her Instagram in which she mentioned the brain metastasis.

“My priority at the moment is my mother. I know it will be difficult for her if I pass away before her,” the actress said in the episode. “Because it’s going to be so hard for her, I want other things to be a lot easier. I don’t want her to have a lot of things to deal with. I don’t want her to have four storage rooms full of furniture.”

During the episode, she talked about prioritizing her friends and family at this time in her life. According to her, the money from sales of her items will be used for travel and experiences.

“I don’t need it, it doesn’t really bring me much joy, but what brings me a lot of joy is taking my mom to the places she’s always wanted to go,” she said. “I understand to build different memories – I can build memories with the people I love. I’m not touching the money in my estate that will ensure everyone in my life is taken care of.”

“It feels like you’re giving up something that was very special and important to you,” he said. “But you know it’s the right thing to do and that it will give you a sense of peace and calm. Because you’re helping the people you leave behind have an easier transition.”

“I know it will never be easy for the people in my life, but maybe it’s more about ease for me.”

Excited, she said that she accumulated a lot of furniture because of her love for antiques, but that it is “sad” that they are stored in storage.

“I’m not taking advantage and others are not taking advantage, and do I really need this? Do I need three dinner tables?” she said. “The answer is no, none of us really need all the things we have, and we could all do with downsizing a little and not become hoarders, which is what I was doing with all my furniture.”

Shannen became known for playing Brenda Walsh in the teen series “Barred at the Prom”, between 1990 and 1994. She also played the role of Prue, one of the witch sisters in “Charmed”, from 1998 to 2001.

The actress was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 and underwent brain surgery and radiation therapy in January 2023. In a November PEOPLE cover story, she revealed that the cancer had spread to her bones, which left with the prospect of ‘another 3 to 5 years of life’.
