Google’s battle to rid the Play Store of malware continues and there is a new list of dangerous applications to uninstallif they are part of the group of mobile tools you keep on your phone.

The most recent security report is from Human’s Satori Threat Intelligence team and warns of the existence of a family of “rogue” VPN applications, powered by an SDK that managed to bypass the technology giant’s defenses to transform Android phones into proxies, which become part of a malicious network to rent.

Once installed, apps hide the origin of their commands, opening the door to a series of attacks, all dangerousexperts warn.

Google has already removed the versions with the SDK from the Play Store, but there is a possibility that these apps will return to the store without the SDK, so the advice is to delete all the ones you have on your smartphone. If necessary, you can safely reinstall them again, says the report.

Satori Threat Intelligence researchers explain that The use of so-called residential proxies, or network cloaking, can be used to hide malicious activityincluding password dissemination, large-scale advertising fraud or attacks with stuffing previously stolen access credentials.

“When a malicious actor uses a residential proxy, the traffic from these attacks appears to come from different residential IP addresses, rather than an IP from a data center or other infrastructure from someone less well-intentioned,” points out the report, cited by Forbes .

Clearly, the intention is for these proxy phones to create a “clean” and growing network of seemingly innocent IP addressesit is added.
