Led by Russian Deputy Minister of Culture Andrei Maluishev, the delegation includes an artistic group from the Primorsky stage of the Mariinsky Theater in Vladivostok, KCNA said.

The group was received by North Korea’s Vice Minister of Culture, Pak Kyong-chol, and several officials, on a visit that began on Monday, at a time when the two countries are strengthening their bilateral relationship.

KCNA indicated that another Russian delegation, led by Oleg Kozhemyako, governor of the Primorsky Krai region, in the far east of the country, on the border with North Korea, was also in Pyongyang recently.

These visits come after, in February, around 300 workers of North Korean origin arrived in Russia by train, according to experts cited by the Efe news agency, in an example of close cooperation between Pyongyang and Moscow that may violate international resolutions .

The Russian embassy in the North Korean capital also said that a group of around 100 tourists from Russia were in Pyongyang at the beginning of February, being the first foreign visitors to the country after it reopened its borders following the end of the Covid pandemic. 19.

In September, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un traveled to Russia for a meeting with President Vladimir Putin.

Seoul and Washington later claimed that Pyongyang had sent weapons to Russia for use in Ukraine, violating several UN resolutions.
