GAECO/MPAM launches second phase of Operation Rehearsed Play

On the morning of this Tuesday, 03/26/2024, the Public Ministry of Amazonas (MPAM), through the Special Action Group to Combat Organized Crime (GAECO/AM) and the 70th Public Prosecutor’s Office Specialized in the Defense and Protection of Heritage Public, the second ostensible phase of Operation “Rehearsed Play” began. The objective of the operation was to execute 10 (ten) home, personal and vehicle search and seizure warrants. The Court also ordered the kidnapping and unavailability of the assets of those involved up to a limit of R$ 1,800,000.00 (one million and eight hundred thousand reais).
This is the unfolding of a criminal investigation that aims to investigate the association between public and private agents for the practice of crimes of illegal direct contracting (article 337-E of the Penal Code) related to the provision of services, without contractual coverage, within the scope of the Hospital and Emergency Room on August 28th.
From the investigative efforts, evidence was collected that revealed the potential criminal association between public agents and private actors to commit the crimes of illegal direct contracting and money laundering.
The demonstration of the common will and interactions of the aforementioned agents, in the performance of their public functions and private activities, subject of the criminal investigation, will be essential for the configuration of the practice of criminal conduct described above, confirming signs of favoritism in hiring processes. service providers within the scope of the 28 de Agosto Hospital and Emergency Room.
Based on the analysis of the materials seized in the context of the ostensible second phase of Operation “Jogada Ensaiada”, GAECO/AM intends to individualize the conduct of each of those involved and submit the case for consideration by the Judiciary, so that those involved can respond for the acts carried out, with the corresponding return of public funds unduly received.
