Casinos collected 19.5 billion patacas (2.2 billion euros) in March compared to 12.7 billion patacas (1.4 billion euros) in the same month of 2023, according to data from the Directorate of Gaming Inspection and Coordination (DICJ).

In terms of accumulated gross revenue, the first three months of this year registered an increase of 65.5% compared to the previous year, with a total of 53.3 billion patacas (6.1 billion euros) against 34, 6 billion patacas (3.9 billion euros) between January and March 2023.

Macau closed last year with total revenue of 183.1 billion patacas (20.6 billion euros), four times more than in 2022, after in January lifting all restrictions on the entry of tourists, which were in force for almost three years, due to the covid-19 pandemic.

The gambling capital of the world, Macau is the only place in China where casino gambling is legal. Six concessionaires operate in the territory, whose concession contract for the next ten years came into force on January 1, 2023.
