Shall we dance, by the way, Sónar?

Tiga & Hudson Mohawke in mode L’Ecstasy. Artificial intelligence applied to the deconstruction of prejudice by Sevdaliza. The rawness of Helena Hauff. Marie Davidson’s machinery. Paul Kalkbrenner, the great agitator of Berlin nights. Ivan Smagghe and Manfredas together under the name Dresden. Belgian 2manyDJs called on Erol Alkan and Éclair Fifi to add to the fun. Branko launching Sum. And Grove at the point “where the mosh pit and the rave meet.”

It’s Sónar making himself felt here again, in what is the third Lisbon replica of the epicentral Catalan festival for electronic music. This is just a handful of the artists lined up. There are more than 50 in total, spread across three stages and organized according to the day/night dynamics characteristic of the festival. Outside the dance floor, attention is asked to Limbic Landmarksthe immersive installation that the Zabra collective created for the occasion, at Estufa Fria.

END in creation

Whether in shows, open rehearsals, residencies, workshops, readings or other formats, END – Encontros de Novas Dramaturgias “promotes and disseminates original writing for theater and other performing arts” – an objective reaffirmed, in this sixth edition, in a six-day program , divided between Guimarães and Coimbra.

Among those invited by Mickaël de Oliveira, artistic director of the biennale, are creators such as Cristina Planas Leitão with [O Sistema]Diego Bragà and his Spiritual SuperputaTiago Cadete in a DelicacyLuís Araújo and The Missing PieceSara Carinhas in a Last Memory or Lígia Soares and Henrique Furtado Dying for the Birds.

Extremely suspicious

Joana Marques applies the tone Extremely Unpleasant of your radio heading (and respective podcast at the top of auditions) Suspiciousa demotivational talk that emulates the spectacle of self-knowledge given by so many “gurus” who have given him material for satire.

Like them, the comedian fills a large room (twice) with disciples thirsty for her lessons and guests ready to (anti-)help. Whether it will improve lives, we don’t know. What is certain is that this “coach” globalized (in the sense that she won Golden Globes), also author of the book Everything Will Go Badis a phenomenon in itself.

A new Soundcheck

In the house that for years housed the floods of the Music Days, a new festival is born – very different in its format, similar in its eclecticism. It’s called Belém Soundcheck and has both fado and jazz, classical, DJing or… Patti Smith. The punk poet is the star of the poster, in a double presence with the performance Correspondences (which also passes through Braga, on the 24th) and with the exhibition/installation Evidenceboth in collaboration with Soundwalk Collective.

Camané also goes to Soundcheck in a Restlessness in honor of José Mário Branco, Maria João singing Songs for ShakespeareIl Giardino Armonico with cellist Giovanni Sollima, the new Y’Y by the Brazilian Amaro Freitas, the trip9love…??? de Tirzah and the chamber group Kremerata Baltica with founding violinist Gidon Kremer, as well as DJ Switchdance, Pedro Ricardo, Funkamente, Sama Yax and Luísa at the end of each day.

Freedom25 to pass

If freedom has always passed through Sérgio Godinho’s music, in the fiftieth anniversary of the 25th of April it is heard in a particular way. The singer-songwriter is about to take it to the coliseums Freedom25a show full of memories from his discography, intertwined with the country’s history from the oldest stories to the most recent adventures.

It is also a moment of complicities: on the one hand, with Os Assessores, the band that faithfully accompanies him; on the other, with A Garota Não and the choir a cappella Canto Nono, special guests of these concerts. Anyone who doesn’t manage to catch him here (since there was a huge rush for tickets) has a whole tour to choose from, throughout the year and across the country.
