The popular “Pirates of the Caribbean” saga, starring Johnny Depp, may be closer to returning to the screen.

“Pirates of the Caribbean” is one of Disney’s most popular sagas, produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and based on an attraction in its parks with the same name.

The films follow the adventures of Captain Jack Sparrow, who begins the films looking for his ship, the Black Pearl, and begins by involving some people to achieve his objective. However, with the sequels, we realize that Sparrow loves being at sea and that’s where he feels best, but as a result he gets into trouble with others.

Johnny Depp (“Black Mass”, “The Tourist”) was the big star of the films, to such an extent that he cannot separate the character from the actor. In addition to Depp, the cast also included Orlando Bloom (“The Lord of the Rings,” “Gran Turismo”), Keira Knightley (“The Boston Strangler,” “Atonement”), Geoffrey Rush (“The King’s Speech” ), Kevin McNally (“Doctor Who”), Jack Davenport (“Dr. Death”, “The Morning Show”), Lee Arenberg (“Once Upon a Time”), Stellan Skarsgard (“Dune – Dune“, “Andor” ), Naomie Harris (“007: Skyfall,” “Moonlight”), Tom Hollander (“Pride and Prejudice,” “Feud”), Bill Nighy (“The Big Break,” “The Men Who Fell to Earth”), Jonathan Pryce (“The Crown”, “The Two Popes”), among many others.

The first film, which premiered in 2003, was a huge commercial success and also well received by critics. And so, Disney quickly announced that sequels were on the way.

Unfortunately, the fifth film, “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales”, had problems in its production due to the toxic marriage between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, as it was at this point that the actor lost the tip of a finger. This feature film also did not have the same performance at the box office as the previous films.

With everything that was happening in Depp’s personal life, even being ‘cancelled’ and fired from this saga and “Fantastic Beasts”, the actor revealed that he would not return for a sixth film as Jack Sparrow.

However, this saga continues to be much loved and Disney has been thinking about returning to this world, with there even being rumors of a new “Pirates of the Caribbean” film that would be led by Margot Robbie (“Barbie”).

Recently, there was news about the future of the saga, coming from Jerry Bruckheimer in an interview with ComicBook.com. The producer was asked about the future of “Top Gun” and “Pirates of the Caribbean”. Bruckheimer revealed that there is still no schedule for the next “Top Gun” film because of Tom Cruise’s (“Mission: Impossible”) schedule.

Regarding “Pirates of the Caribbean”, the producer said that the next film in the saga will be a reboot, as it would be easier to do since Depp will not return. But beyond that, the producer did not provide any further information.
