In 2019, Mafalda Rodiles decided to return to Portugal following her separation from Brazilian director, Edgard Miranda, with whom she was married for seven years.
The actress’ ex-husband, who is also the director and director of the soap opera ‘Cacau’, on TVI, gave this Friday, May 3, an interview with Manuel Luís Goucha in which he spoke about the divorce.
Edgard guarantees that the two still liked each other a lot when they separated, but that he made a mistake when he dedicated himself too much to his work.
“The worst scene of my life was perhaps going to the airport to say goodbye to that woman and my two children. I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy”he stated.
In the interviewee’s view, the separation happened because he “fell into that director’s cliché”, noting that he didn’t notice Mafalda when she became a mother for the second time.
Since the artist dedicated herself at that time mainly to her children, Edgard confesses that he felt that he was relegated to a “secondary level” and that he was not important in his then partner’s life.
Coming to Portugal and the court case
In 2023, Edgard Miranda came to Portugal to work on the TVI soap opera. The move allowed him to be close to his children, meaning he was able to see Mel and Martim practically every weekend.
If at the beginning, the relationship with Mafalda was positive, the two came to have a “disagreement” over child support. “There was a disagreement, because I saw that the values practiced here in Portugal are much lower than in Brazil. I tried this adjustment. We arrived at court”he reveals, noting that the process ended recently, after a year.
With everything already resolved at the judicial level, Edgard hopes that one day he can have a friendly relationship with Mafalda Rodiles, especially for the sake of his children.
Currently in a relationship with Gustavo Santos, Mafalda and the writer were parents of a child together, baby António.
