Fighting dengue is the topic of four online courses for employees

-

The School of Health Sciences (Escs) offers four courses related to combating dengue for health and education employees. The training is permanent, free and online, and can be done at any time, depending on the participant’s pace. At the end, graduates receive a certificate. To participate, simply access the Escola de Aperfeiçoamento do Sistema Único de Saúde (Eapsus) platform and register here.

One of the courses is Health Detectives at School: Unraveling Dengue, which encourages disease prevention at home and in educational spaces. The training is recommended for teaching professionals in public and private networks. The course duration is 10 hours. Educational strategies to connect students with dengue prevention are discussed, in addition to explanations about the clinical evolution of the disease and the importance of the vaccine.

“We showed that it is possible to raise awareness about the topic in each of the school subjects. A geography teacher, for example, can talk about dengue when working on seasonality; while Portuguese can include words related to the disease in a playful and simple way, in word searches and crosswords”, lists the director of Eapsus, Fernanda Monteiro. “Our focus is to reach all educators in the DF, bringing society closer to combating mosquitoes”, she explains.

Two other courses are for updating clinical management for secondary and higher education levels, each with a 16-hour workload. Aimed at health professionals, the classes discuss risk classification, clinical conduct and case notification according to education levels. The last training is vaccination against dengue. Technical guidance on the topic and ways to promote awareness campaigns are presented. The working hours are 3 hours.

More than 800 people have already signed up to participate in the training and feedback from participants has been positive. This is the case of nurse Kênia Domingues and community health agent Luciana Roberta, who took the refresher course on clinical management of dengue. “I really liked the course and I will take the others. They are of great relevance to my profession”, commented Luciana. Kênia highlighted the way in which knowledge was presented: “I really liked the clinical cases presented, it was very good teaching, I was curious to look for the cases presented and try to solve them.”

To participate, simply register on the teaching platform.
