Only 32% of the target audience took the dengue vaccine in DF

-

Almost 20 days after the start of vaccination against dengue in the Federal District, only 32% of children aged 10 and 11 were immunized. Data from the government of the Federal District (GDF) show that, between February 9th and 27th, 23,502 doses were administered. The ministry itself assesses that demand for the vaccine is below expectations.

The numbers show that, of the 71,708 doses received from the Ministry of Health, there are still 48,206 doses available for application at all 67 vaccination points in the Federal District. “Like all immunobiologicals, the dengue vaccine also has an expiration date. The vaccines are valid until April 30th”, highlighted the GDF in a note.

The statement highlights that “arrangements are being made for a possible expansion of the target audience, in order to ensure that all doses are effectively applied to the population”.

Care

“Even those who are already vaccinated must continue with preventive care so that the transmitting mosquito does not proliferate. It is important that the population does their part and observes environments inside and outside the home that can serve as shelter and reproduction of the disease vector”, reinforced the GDF.

Numbers

The Federal District is one of the federative units most affected by the disease. Data from the Department of Health indicate that the DF already has 98,418 probable cases of dengue, in addition to 55 deaths from the disease. There are still 82 deaths under investigation. The basic health units (UBS) in Ceilândia continue to report the highest number of cases (8,851), followed by those in São Sebastião (3,579) and those in Santa Maria (2,919).
