Joinville confirmed the 13th death from dengue this Monday morning (18). According to city hall, the victim is a 55-year-old man. He lived in the Vila Nova neighborhood, where there are 180 confirmed cases of the disease. The man died on the 8th in a public hospital.

The city in the north of Santa Catarina is the one that recorded the most deaths in 2024 from the disease in Santa Catarina. Of the 27 deaths in the State, 13 were recorded in Joinville, six in Itajaí and another eight in other cities in Santa Catarina.

As of this Monday (18), data also shows that Joinville has 5,600 confirmed cases of dengue. The most affected neighborhoods are Aventureiro, with 776 cases, followed by Saguaçu with 503 and Boa Vista with 350.

Joinville collects 16 tons of rubble

Saturday (16) was marked by actions to combat dengue in Joinville. Eleven health units worked to vaccinate children and adolescents between 10 and 14 years old. In total, 315 pre-teens were vaccinated.

Also on Saturday, around 150 people, including public servants and volunteers, participated in a joint effort in the Iririú neighborhood. 941 visits were made to homes and businesses, on 43 streets in the neighborhood.

In total, the group managed to eliminate 16 tons of debris. It also carried out an educational blitz, delivering guidance material on the “10 minutes against dengue” to around 2,000 vehicles.
