Blumenau confirmed another death from dengue this Tuesday (26). This is a 65-year-old man with comorbidities. Two other deaths are under investigation in the municipality, according to the Santa Catarina Government’s Panel for monitoring cases of the disease.

The death, according to the municipality’s Health Department, occurred on March 16, but confirmation was made this Monday (25) in the late afternoon. The first death, a 77-year-old man, occurred last Monday (11).
Since the last bulletin released by City Hall, on March 22, 155 outbreaks and 299 cases of the disease have been registered. Blumenau is currently experiencing a dengue epidemic, with an accumulated total in 2024 of 10,176 probable cases.
In total, 7,931 are under investigation, 2,245 confirmed, 1,577 mosquito outbreaks found. Eight people are hospitalized in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) and 11 in the ward in Blumenau.
Pay attention to the signs and symptoms of dengue
The first manifestation of dengue is high fever (39° to 40°C) with an abrupt onset, lasting two to seven days, associated with headache, weakness, pain in the body, joints and back of the eyes. Spots on the body are present in 50% of cases, and can affect the face, trunk, arms and legs. Loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting may also be present.
Outpatient care
If you need assistance, just look for the AGFs (General Family Outpatient Clinics), which serve the neighborhoods of Velha, Escola Agrícola, Garcia, Fortaleza, Itoupava, Badenfurt and Centro, from Monday to Friday, from 7am to 10pm. The ESFs (Family Health Strategy Units) also offer care to the population.
Call center
A care center focused on dengue patients was created on Campus 3 of Furb (Regional University of Blumenau), located on Rua São Paulo.
The space was designed to guarantee care for all patients and assist in the reception of health units and also as a back-up space for hospitals.
The multidisciplinary team of 20 people is made up of doctors, nurses and nursing technicians, who will serve the population with dengue symptoms, in an open door format, from 7am to 7pm, seven days a week, including holidays.
