Recife expands flu vaccination for all priority groups; find out where and who can get immunized | Pernambuco

The Recife Health Department expanded flu vaccination to all priority groups, starting this Wednesday (27). According to the city hall, the target audience for the new stage of immunization against Influenza corresponds to more than 658 thousand people (find out where to get vaccinated).

The campaign began on March 13, but the initial stage was aimed only at health workers, people over 60 years old, people with comorbidities and permanent illnesses and children aged between 6 months and 6 years.

With the expansion, flu vaccination also covers the following groups:

• Teachers;
• Homeless people;
• Armed Forces, Security and Rescue professionals;
• Truck drivers, port and public transport workers;
• Prison system inmates and employees;
• Adolescents and young people in socio-educational measures, aged between 12 and 21 years old.

According to the Recife Health Department, the vaccination schedule varies depending on the age group, with a single dose for most groups and two doses for children aged between 6 months and 6 years, with an interval of 30 days.

Sick people with fever and confirmed cases of Covid-19 should postpone flu vaccination until recovery, according to Recife city hall.

Another recommendation from the municipal secretariat is to bring an identification document with CPF, the vaccination card and the Unified Health System (SUS) card to speed up the procedure.

Furthermore, some groups need to prove the need for immunization, such as health professionals, who must bring proof of work.

The Influenza vaccine prevents worsening, hospitalization and death from the flu. According to municipal management, the campaign’s goal is to vaccinate 90% of the priority public by May 31st.
