The Ministry of Health included Apucarana, in the north of Paraná, on the list of 154 cities that will receive shipments of dengue vaccines. The announcement was made this Wednesday morning (27).

Another 16 municipalities in the state will also receive doses. They are all part of the 16th Apucarana Region. The target audience for the vaccine includes children and adolescents aged 10 to 14.

The Ministry of Health has not set a firm date, but believes that the vaccines will be distributed starting next week.

In total, 930,000 doses will be sent to the 154 municipalities that will begin vaccination and another 521 that have already received the vaccines in February.

The bulletin released this Tuesday (26) by the State Department of Health (Sesa) showed that Paraná confirmed more than 22 thousand new cases and 18 deaths from dengue.

Now, the state has more than 135,000 confirmations and 77 deaths in the current epidemiological period, which began last year.

Of the 77 people who died, 15 were in the 16th Health Region of Apucarana, currently considered the region with the highest incidence of dengue in the state.
