The survey by the State Department of Health of Pernambuco (SES-PE), referring to the weeks from December 31, 2023 to March 23, 2024, indicates the existence of 12,623 probable cases of dengue in Pernambuco, of which 827 are confirmed cases. According to SES, the numbers represent an increase of 522.7% compared to the same period last year.
According to the epidemiological bulletin, 18 deaths are being investigated to find out whether or not they were caused by arboviruses. Furthermore, of the 827 confirmed cases of dengue, 10 were recorded as serious.
This was the 12th epidemiological report on arboviruses, which also recorded 2,395 probable cases of Chikungunya, of which 163 were confirmed. Zika, on the other hand, has 247 probable cases, without any confirmation.
SES-PE also stated that a meeting with directors of regional hospitals in the State and Emergency Care Units (UPAs) was held, with the aim of intensifying the monitoring of data provided by the Urgency and Emergency Network.
