6 states and 71 municipalities with a high incidence of infection will receive 668,000 doses that are close to expiration

The Ministry of Health published this Thursday (March 28, 2024) the criteria for receiving the remaining dengue vaccine doses. To date, 9 states and 71 municipalities will benefit.

The Minister of Health, Nísia Trindade, announced on March 20 that she would redistribute to municipalities with a high incidence of infection doses of the dengue vaccine that were left over from other states and that were close to expiry. The body said it had received a donation of 1.2 million doses of the vaccine – 668,000 of which expire on April 30, 2024. The redistribution, therefore, aims to avoid the expiration of the batches and cover municipalities that have not yet been covered.

The cities chosen follow the same criteria established in the distribution of the first batches: large municipalities with high transmission in the last 10 years, resident population equal to or greater than 100 thousand inhabitants and high transmission rates.

The vaccine is intended for people aged 10 to 14. There are two doses applied 3 months apart.
