Survey shows 3,763 confirmed cases and five deaths resulting from the disease

The Ministry of Health included Mato Grosso do Sul among the six states that continue to have a consolidated increase in the number of dengue cases. The survey was released this Tuesday afternoon (2), during a press conference.

With 3,763 confirmed cases, the SES (State Health Department) registered another 11,048 probable cases of the disease in the last week. Six people have already fallen victim to the disease transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito in the first three months of 2024.

According to the ministry, there is no city in Mato Grosso do Sul that has not reported any case of dengue. Of the 79 municipalities, 49 cities showed a high incidence of cases, when more than 300 occurrences are recorded per 100 thousand inhabitants.

At the national level, 991 deaths from dengue were recorded across the country. Alagoas, Bahia, Maranhão, Pernambuco, Rio Grande do Norte and Sergipe make up the survey. In total, 1,483 deaths are under investigation. According to a balance released by the ministry, the incidence rate of the disease is 1,292.4 cases for each group of 100 thousand inhabitants.

The ministry says that it is necessary to continue surveillance against the disease. “It still requires attention, we need people to continue dedicating ten minutes against dengue, looking at possible outbreaks of the larvae. It is still time for monitoring”, warned secretary Ethel Maciel.

The low demand in the country for vaccines against dengue, which had immunized only 20% of the expected population until the beginning of this month, led the ministry to ask for redistribution of doses that expire on April 30th.

“It will not be a donation, it is a relocation of batches according to availability and excess throughout the national territory. Those who have an excess and are not having sufficient demand will distribute the vaccines and then receive the next batches again from the Ministry of Health with an expiration date wider validity”, explained Maurício Simões, state secretary of Health.
