Nine cities in the Passos Regional Health Management, in the south of Minas, were included in the 4th shipment from the Ministry of Health for vaccination against dengue. In total, 12,452 doses will be allocated at this time. There is still no forecast of when new doses will be allocated to other cities in the region. The target audience is children aged 10 to 14.
The following cities will receive vaccines from this 4th shipment:
- Steps – 6,756 doses
- Itaú de Minas – 820 doses
- Carmo do Rio Claro – 1248 doses
- São José da Barra – 558 doses
- Bom Jesus da Penha – 276 doses
- Saint John the Baptist of Glory – 433 doses
- Nova Resende – 1084 doses
- Alpinópolis – 1069 doses
- Minas Fortress – 208 doses
According to the Ministry of Health, 625 new municipalities are being considered across the country. The expansion aims to optimize the implementation of the national dengue vaccination strategy.
The distribution of doses in the municipalities was determined based on three main criteria: the ranking of health regions and municipalities, the necessary quantity of doses according to the availability predicted by the manufacturer and the calculation of the total doses to be delivered in a single shipment to the County.
The doses intended for application of the second dose will be sent later considering the recommended interval of 3 months to complete the vaccination schedule.
In total, across the country, 986,548 doses of the vaccine will be distributed in this 4th shipment.
According to the State Department of Health (SES-MG), the South of Minas already has more than 80 thousand cases and 28 deaths confirmed by dengue.
