HM promotes project to take care of the health and well-being of Emergency employees
O Messejana Hospital Dr. Carlos Alberto Studart Gomes (HM)linked to Ceará Health Department (Sesa), launched the first edition of the “Caring for Who Cares” project, in reference to “Green April”, to raise awareness about health and safety at work. The project, carried out on April 25th, has as its main objective to provide attention and care to professionals who work in the HM Emergency unit.
Workers enrolled in the project underwent laboratory tests to identify chronic diseases, such as diabetes and high blood pressure, in addition to being evaluated by doctors specialized in occupational health. During the initiative, nutritional assessments, auriculotherapy sessions, beauty services such as haircuts and makeup, massage therapy, vaccinations and an informative exhibition on the evolutionary cycle of Aedes aegypti were also offered.
For Maria Helena, a nurse who works in emergency care, the initiative was extremely positive. “It’s an opportunity to take care of our health. Having a program dedicated to professionals is very rewarding. The rush of the Emergency often prevents us from participating in moments like this. We organized ourselves in advance, took turns and everyone was able to participate. I received cardiological evaluation and massage therapy. It’s been great,” she declared.
The joint initiative of the Emergency Nursing coordination, Specialized Services in Occupational Safety and Medicine (Sesmt) and Continuing Education aims to offer differentiated attention to professionals who face an increasingly intense and stressful routine. Anne Caroline Torres, nursing coordinator at HM Emergency, highlights: “Our goal is to take care of those we care for, offering special attention to the physical and mental health of our employees. This is long-term work and we are happy to start it.”
HGWA promotes actions within April of safety
Blitz at HGWA sought to raise awareness about the importance of workplace safety
O Dr. Waldemar Alcântara General Hospital (HGWA)in the Messejana neighborhood, also promoted a series of activities raising awareness about the importance of workplace safety during the Green April. The Specialized Service for Occupational Safety and Medicine (Sesmt) and the Internal Commission for Accident and Harassment Prevention (Cipa) carried out a blitz in the assistance sectors on the issue.
There were fun activities with a quiz with questions and answers with different risk situations. The educational blitz focused on the use of adornments and footwear in the units, with the presence of characters referring to the use of the items. A lecture focused on the maintenance sector, workplace gymnastics and an exhibition of personal protective equipment were also part of the actions.

The safety engineer and coordinator of the HGWA Sesmt, Jamilo Nogueira, points out that Abril Verde aims to disseminate the prevention culture among employers, workers and society in general. At HGWA, the moment is part of the agenda of occupational health and safety events, where the moment is used to implement prevention actions.
“The actions are fundamental to strengthening the culture of preventing accidents and occupational illnesses at the institute. We cannot miss the opportunity to emphasize the issue linked to worker health, all the opportunities we have to reach HGWA employees must be taken advantage of, as all of this will culminate at some point in quality of life at work”, he states.
