Santa Isabel Municipal Hospital promotes prevention and patient safety actions

Another preventive action aimed at patient safety was carried out, this Tuesday (30), at the Hospital Municipal Santa Isabel (HMSI), the largest hospital facility in the city managed by the City of João Pessoa. The action was organized by the Patient Safety Center (NSP) and aimed to improve the effectiveness of communication and teamwork.

The general director of HMSI, doctor Adriana Lobão, highlighted the importance of communication and teamwork, which guarantee fewer errors and greater safety for patients. “We value communication and teamwork as a way to increase safety in work processes. Effective communication reduces the possibility of errors and is carried out at Hospital Santa Isabel daily, verbally, written or electronically, through rounds, multidisciplinary visits and experience”, she highlighted.

During the event, which featured a lecture by Maja Lima, a professional who has been training teams for 13 years, an interactive dynamic was held between the participants. “The speaker awakened our team’s interest in self-knowledge and collective power. In this interaction, strategies were shared for improving teamwork and the investment of time and energy by all coordinators in enhancing effective communication at all levels of work processes”, explained nutritionist Danielly Chiappetta, who coordinates the Security Center of the hospital patient.

The importance of April’s actions was also discussed, where discussions about work to improve patient safety are normally expanded. The debates also involved appropriate forms of notification and collective personal development.

During the action, held at the Study Center (Ceapes), an interactive video about internal procedures was released for the first time, aiming to better absorb the protocols by all collaborators.

Effective communication is one of the six international patient safety goals. In this case, goal 2. “This is when the message we want to convey is made clearly and clearly understood by the receiver”, says Danielly Chiappetta.

The target audience for the action was coordinators from the various sectors and services at HMSI and the care team.
