According to the Ministry of Health bulletin, released this Friday (3), the DF already records 308 deaths from dengue in 2024, an increase of 51 deaths compared to the previous week. Furthermore, there are 241,254 probable cases of the disease, which places the DF as the federation unit with the highest incidence, with 8.5 thousand cases of contamination by the Aedes aegypti mosquito for every 100 thousand inhabitants.
The week’s numbers represent a total of 200,480 probable cases and 294 more deaths than in the same period last year. Of this total, 56.3% are female.
In the list of dengue epidemiological situation by Administrative Region, the RA of Ceilândia presented the highest number of probable cases, followed by Samambaia, Santa Maria, Taguatinga and Sol Nascente/Por do Sol. Vaccination
To contain the escalation of the disease, the DF Health Department (SES-DF) expanded vaccination against dengue to children and young people aged 6 to 16, due to low demand from the population and the risk of doses expiring.
The measure follows guidance from the Ministry of Health, which recommends expanding vaccination to people up to 59 years of age across the country, as many doses will expire on April 30, due to low vaccination coverage of 30%.

In DF, the expansion of the age group will be valid until the end of the available vaccine stock, which currently has around 2,800 doses. The DF Health Secretary, Lucilene Florêncio, informed that the department has already received a new batch with 12 thousand doses that will only expire in 2025, which will allow the analysis of a new expansion of the age group.
